Well, little girl, your shower day came and went and Grandma has taken a whole week before I wrote about it! After your shower Grandma had to get started on the invitations for Baby Hannah's shower!! And for Aunt Kari's Birthday party invitations. Aunt Kari is going to be 10. Double digits! You will have to ask Mommy what double digits means. :)
Your shower was wonderful! You and Mommy and Daddy received so many beautiful things. Diaper bags, strollers, bottles and things to help Mommy with feeding you, BEAUTIFUL, SWEET, girly outfits for you to wear. Your Mommy glowed with happiness at all the love that was showered on her and her baby girl! Grandma Christensen crocheted you a yellow blanket and Auntie Laura crocheted you a pink blanket and Auntie Sherry sewed you some flannel blankets. All so gorgeous! Uncle Brian and Auntie Emily were so excited to get you your very own high chair. Aunt Kari bought you a book. It is an "Old McDonald" book that has a glove for our fingers with animals on the fingers. That way we can do a puppet show while we read to you. Auntie Kari will have to be the first one to read that one to you. That will make it special for her and you!
We had pink and white balloons and a pink beanie baby dog with a boquet of flowers for the decorations. Also a stork hanging from the ceiling and a big sign on the wall. We fed the guests "raspberry ribbon pie" and sangria punch. Tori Nygren, a friend of Grandma's and your Mommy's gave a little talk and prayed for you and your Mommy. It was just a wonderful time for all of us to come together to celebrate your soon to be arrival.
Today, Grandma, Auntie Laura, and Auntie Kari went over to your house to help your Mommy and Daddy get your room ready. Grandma laughed and told everyone how funny it is that it takes so many to get ready for one little baby! :) We sure had fun doing it though.
We put up a wall paper boarder that had princess crowns and stars. It was pink and green. We didn't really know what we were doing at first and had a little hard time with the first wall. But after we got the hang of it we put the rest of the boarder like we were expert wall paperers. :) We washed some of your clothes and blankets and sheets. We shopped for a dresser and watched your Mommy and Daddy put it together. We organized the furniture just right so it looked real cozy. We hung decorations on the wall. A Princess Crown and Hearts. We organized the closet and all your pretty clothes in order of size. When we were all done Grandma felt like crying. But it was a happy cry feeling. Your Mommy has a night light in your room that was hers when she was a little girl. It is a rocking horse. It made me remember when I was getting ready for her to be born. Your Mommy grew up so fast! Now we are waiting for you and Grandma is just so happy with it all that I felt like crying and laughing and dancing for joy!
I love you little one. It won't be long and you will be in your own special bedroom prepared just for you by so many that love you. I think about how much I love you and how special it was to be able to be a part of getting your room ready. It makes me think of how God is preparing a place for us in heaven. I can almost imagine how much God loves us and how He must feel getting things ready for us to be with Him in Heaven forever and ever. God must be very excited too!
Sleep tight and grow strong!
Love,
Grandma
